Anamnesis is a solo exploration of specificity, inevitability, and failure. The work asks how will repetition evolve into something new and unrecognizable, and how this journey forces you through failure, moments of observation, and moments of revisitation of an experience.

This work was revisited and expanded upon a year after its creation for presentation in Studiodance Fall 2021 at the Krannert Center for Performing Arts alongside other student works. The initial work was created for Dance at Illinois' sophomore review showings for faculty.

During the development of this piece, I injured my shoulder. An understudy, Sydney Tschosik, was called upon to finish the exploration. This work would not have made it onstage without her contribution.

Anamnesis 2

2022 - Prairie Lakes Theater, Des Plaines, IL

Anamnesis 2 was created because I felt like there was more research to do in this solo. This work picked up right where the first iteration ended. There was an opportunity to put old challenges on as a transformed person with different goals and movement affinities. This created a new meaning of the work, revisiting a past self's movement patterns, habits, and failures, forces one to come to terms with how they have grown over time and how these two versions of oneself can coexist.

This extended solo was presented in Dancing for Dancer's Spring Benefit Concert at The Prairie Lakes Theater featured alongside other scholarship recipients. She hopes to revisit this work in the future to merge both works and extend it even farther.
